PRIVACY POLICY
The Barbados Padel Association (“BPA”, “we”, “us”) is a sporting association incorporated and based in Barbados. This policy explains how we handle personal information collected through our website, membership and player registration, communications, and association activities. We seek to collect only the information reasonably needed to develop and administer padel in Barbados.
Depending on your interaction with BPA, we may collect your name, contact details, club affiliation, age or date of birth, player category, membership or registration status, competition entries and results, rankings, and communications you send us. We may also receive relevant registration or competition information from affiliated clubs, event organizers and sporting bodies. Our website or hosting provider may collect basic technical information such as IP address, browser type and website usage, including through cookies where enabled. BPA is not currently accepting payments and does not collect payment card information.
We use information to administer membership and player registrations; organize competitions, rankings and sporting activities; communicate association news, events and administrative notices; respond to enquiries; support club and athlete development; maintain accurate records; improve our website; and meet applicable legal and sporting obligations. Where required, we rely on consent or another lawful basis under Barbados law. You may opt out of optional promotional emails at any time.
We may share information only where reasonably necessary with BPA officers and authorized volunteers; affiliated clubs and competition organizers; sporting governing bodies, including the International Padel Federation (FIP), where relevant to registration, eligibility, rankings or competitions; and providers supporting website hosting, email or association administration. We may also disclose information when required by law. Competition results, player names, clubs, categories and rankings may be published as part of ordinary sporting activity; we will take additional care with junior players. We do not sell member information or provide member contact lists to third parties for their own marketing.
Some sporting bodies and technology providers may operate outside Barbados. Where personal information is transferred internationally, BPA will take appropriate steps to comply with applicable Barbados data protection requirements.
Padel includes junior participants. Where information about a child is needed for registration or competition, BPA will seek appropriate parent or guardian involvement and apply additional care to its use and disclosure. We will avoid publishing unnecessary personal or contact details of minors.
We use reasonable organizational and technical measures to protect information against unauthorized access, loss or misuse, including limiting access to those who need it for association purposes. We keep personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described, sporting recordkeeping or legal obligations, and then delete or anonymize it where appropriate. No electronic system can be guaranteed completely secure. We will address and report personal data breaches as required by applicable law.
Subject to the Barbados Data Protection Act, 2019–29, you may have rights to access, correct, erase or restrict the use of your personal information, object to certain processing, and raise concerns with the Barbados Data Protection Commissioner. To make a request, contact BPA using the details below. We may need to verify your identity and may retain records where required by law or legitimate sporting administration.
Our website may use essential cookies and basic analytics to operate and understand site use. You can control cookies through your browser settings. Links to third-party websites or services are governed by those providers’ own privacy policies.
